Abstract submission deadline:
Fundamental goal: To discuss the relationship
between aesthetics -as well as that of the art related to the sensitive and
sentimental variables- and the philosophy of art within the framework of the
contemporary artworld.
Summary:
During the so-called period of primacy of conceptual art, aesthetics
was reduced to, at best, anti-aesthetics. Nowadays, the impact of the new media
as well as that of the new methods of artistic production, the new languages
and the previous needs of aesthetics, demand a new approach to the philosophy
of art, the critic and the
spaces of valuation, circulation
and exhibition of art, as well as humans within the artworld. Furthermore, this
demand should be seen in the light of the overwhelming presence of images,
sounds and commodities, as well as the possibilities of producing sensations
and the aesthetically oriented production. Thus, facing an artworld full of ambiguous discourse, increasingly sophisticated abilities to
stimulate our senses, and a struggle between art criticism and the unrestricted
access to a kind of experience which may not be considered as part of cultural
accumulation or expressive needs which are deliberately ignored.
